Saturday, because of the painting experience, I decided to bust out my drawing supplies and sketch a drawing I promised to a friend. It was of her dear kitty that had just passed away. I spent the time curled up on the couch, getting to know little Bella by studying and drawing her pretty features. After finishing, I thought that I can't believe that I don't spend more time doing that because it is so therapeutic and calming. I also gave myself some time to practice the violin and played some songs that I knew well but hadn't played in a while as to not get frustrated. It ended up being a very enjoyable session. Then, I decided to take the time to start the process of bonding my bunnies. (see posts below) They live in our basement and just taking the time to really hang out with them and watch them interact was so fulfilling. At night, which was New Year's Eve, my husband and I went to a house party and spent time catching up with some good friends. We played a couple games, ate some great food, drank only a little, then headed home before getting too exhausted.
On New Year's Day, my friend and I decided to go hiking. We drove to a State Park that we both had been meaning to explore. Whevener I discover a new place not too far from home, it's like finding a hidden treasure. It opens up your world to new and different experiences and I find it helps me enjoy where I live more. It was by no means strenuous because of all the wet leaves, hidden roots and mud causing us to go slow. Not that we would have gone too fast anyway, because we both love to take photographs. It was very relaxing, beautiful and it was filled with great conversations. We now hope to make it an annual tradition by picking a new place each year to discover.
I spent more quality time with the bunnies that night. I decided to document the bonding process by writing about it which is another thing I love to do. So, I got caught up on the back story and the first two days. And even now, looking back and reflecting on what a great weekend it was while watching the snow gently fall, I find myself at complete peace.
