Day 2-New Year's Day

So, I was pretty tired from hiking today, then grocery shopping, then helping make dinner, etc. but I knew I must give the bunnies time now every day.  So, I headed downstairs not expecting too much possibly due to my lack of energy.  And what I got instead was a wonderful gift!  They both came out of their cages a little bit quicker today and this time, I sat in the pen in between their doors and was able to block their doors with cardboard to avoid the territiorial issues of each going into the other's cages.  Then, I stayed sitting on a blanket the entire time.  They got almost 40 minutes of time together, double that from yesterday.  There was only one biting incident from Putter when Hopscotch was too near his cage but he didn't get him good.  Putter kept running over to Hopscotch and Hopscotch would in turn race away but then he would binky in the air.  He had to have binkied more than a dozen times.  Putter seemed actually a little more frazzled than Hopscotch which is surprising due to Hopscotch's past aggressiveness.  There were several moments of them taking time out to eat hay, bathe themselves or explore without being too anxious of each other.  And then a moment happened that I wish I had on video.  Hopscotch had been tearing up the place running and binkying and then he finally collapsed in the prized bunny flop from exhaustion.  Putter immediately came over to him while he was lying on his side and pressed his face into his.  Hopscotch raised his head slightly and his eyes got really wide not knowing what to expect.  But instead of fighting, he pushed his head back into Putter's.  It was the first nuzzling I've ever seen!  It lasted maybe a full minute before Hopscotch finally hopped up and moved away.  After a few more minutes, I let Putter back in his cage but Hopscotch didn't want to go back in.  He kept circling and binkied a few more times and finally went back in his cage.  I am beyond happy about this day.  I am sure they will not all be so smooth so I will take this victory and savor it.
